The Flag Leaf is Out: Maximizing Wheat Yield

When touring wheat fields, it's not uncommon to find the flag leaf has emerged, especially in regions like southwest Illinois. During this flag leaf is crucial as it's a major driver for grain fill and yield, hence needing protection from diseases.

In the picture below you might notice that the flag leaves are present, and some plants may even be entering the boot stage, as depicted in this image.

If you're not planning to apply a fungicide for head scab (though it's highly advisable), consider applying Nexicor® fungicide. Application rates depend on the target disease(s) and timing of application. Please check with your local BASF representative for an appropriate dosage for your field and, always read and follow label directions.
