The U.S. farm economy is facing challenging times, with farmers increasingly relying on operating loans as their revenues tighten. A recent article from Successful Farming reported a 10% increase in farm operating loans this summer compared to a year ago, according to the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank.

However, as growers assess the total financial picture of their operations and plan for the 2025 season, there’s a silver lining in the interest-saving programs offered by BASF.
BASF is offering 0% financing through March 15, 2025 on key brands including: Liberty® herbicide, Revytek® fungicide, Revylok® fungicide and Veltyma® fungicide1. This offer also covers fungicide application costs, making it more attractive. For a 2000 acre grower, the interest savings from this program could translate to over $2.60/acre2.
The straightforward program requires an initial minimum purchase of $5,000 to qualify. This can be composed of multiple participating brands to meet the $5,000 threshold, with no minimum brand requirement.
The clear benefit for growers is that this helps keep interest expenses low while allowing them to utilize consistently high-performing brands that can help boost yields in 2025. For example, in over 1000 head-to-head trials, Revytek® fungicide, Revylok® fungicide and Veltyma® fungicide outyield other fungicides 8 out of 10 times and untreated acres 9 out of 10 times3.
By planning early, growers can develop a robust agronomic plan for 2025 that isn’t constrained by credit line limitations. Additionally, they may have the opportunity to lock in more favorable pre-pay prices, and payments are deferred until after harvest.
