A New Era for Rice

New developments are coming for Provisia rice. PVL03 will be released in 2022 as the third variety in the Provisia Rice System.PVL03 is looking great in seed production fields in southern Louisiana. It has improved grain length and equal or greater yield potential than PVL02. It is the first Provisia rice variety with blast resistance which is a big step for disease protection. The Provisia Rice System has proven to be a huge success in helping rice growers combat "weedy" rice that had overwhelm some fields. Provisia herbicide has been a tremendous tool for controlling red rice issues, barnyardgrass, sprangletop and other grasses. Outstanding varieties like PVL02 and PVL03 and Provisia herbicide provide a great opportunity for rice growers to clean up "weedy" rice fields and move forward with rice production in the years ahead.
