The Mid-Atlantic region of the US is heavy rains from the remnants of post tropical storm Debby. These rains are bringing much needed moisture to areas that needed it. However, tropical moisture can be a double precision-edged sword with the benefits can come some negatives.
These tropical systems can bring inoculum for diseases from more southern regions in the country as well as spread local fungal pathogens. Across much of the region there have been multiple days of rain and damp conditions. These conditions are ripe for disease development in corn and soybeans. If you have already applied a performance driven fungicide you have put down the foundation that you need to protect your crop. If you have not applied a fungicide, consider doing so as soon as possible to help minimize the risk of disease.
In fields that have received an application you may also want to consider a second application to build on that existing fungicidal foundation to carry your crop through until harvest. Within the BASF portfolio there are plenty of options that can be used at this point in the season.
In corn our lead product recommendations for a second fungicide application are either Veltyma® fungicide or Headline® Amp Fungicide. In soybeans our lead product recommendations would be either Revytek® fungicide or Revylok™ fungicide. In situations where one of these products are not locally available Veltyma, Revytek, and Revylok are all labeled on both corn and soybeans. If your local retailer does not have your product of choice, there are options within the BASF portfolio of performance driven fungicides to keep your crop protected.
