Managing kochia and Russian thistle is a significant challenge for dryland wheat and barley farmers in southeast Idaho, given the increasing resistance to group 2 herbicides and glyphosate. With limited non-group 2 options available during the cropping season, the summer fallow period provides an excellent opportunity to control troublesome weed populations.\r
\r
Growers in this region who have adopted Distinct and Sharpen herbicides are experiencing remarkable results. At 50+ days after treatment, there is little to no regrowth of Kochia and Russian thistle compared to using the standard grower treatment.\r
\r
Cost-Effective and Long-Term Control:\r
Thanks to the consistent knock-down power of this herbicide combination and the residual capabilities of Sharpen herbicide, growers can extend their application windows and reduce the frequency of herbicide application. This not only ensures cost-effective weed control but also provides long-term benefits into the next growing season.\r
\r
Distinct® + Sharpen® Herbicides:\r
When compared to traditional dicamba + 2,4-D herbicide programs, the combination of Distinct and Sharpen herbicides offers quicker and more effective control over a wider spectrum of broadleaf weeds.\r
